Nebraskats
Maine Coon Cats
Adoption
Information
Prospective Adopters will be screened; our kittens are raised as part of
our family, and are our babies. We strive to find loving homes for
their lifetimes.

Our kittens are given call names. This gives them all a special identity,
however you may name and register the kitten with your own choice
of a name. Kittens adapt to a new name rather quickly in their new
homes.

At 6 weeks of age the kittens have been given their first vaccinations,
and supervised visits can be arranged by appointment.
We will take deposits to reserve a kitten.

Kittens will go to their new homes at 12 to 16 weeks of age.

All of our kittens are given vaccinations for feline upper respiratory
illness at six, nine and twelve weeks of age.

We do require a signed contract when adopting our kittens.

We do offer a health guarantee, and all of our breeding cats have
been tested negative for the MyBPC gene mutation, which is one of
the causes of HCM ( heart disease) in cats

Our kittens are adopted as inside cats only, and should not be
declawed.

All Pet/ Companion kittens will be spayed or neutered before
placement in adoptive homes.

Proper veterinary care and annual exams and vaccinations are required.

Pet quality kittens are adopted for a fee of $500

Retired Adults,  older kittens,  and special needs cats $50 - $200

Nebraskats
Pet Cat Contract
1: The buyer accepts the responsibility of caring for this cat and providing properly for its welfare. The buyer
agrees to follow the breeder’s instructions on care, housing, diet , treatment and health.

2: This cat/kitten is being sold as a pet quality cat and has been altered prior to placement.

3: The buyer agrees that this cat will always receive prompt, top notch medical care, and will never be allowed
to harbor parasites. Buyer agrees to keep cat clean and healthy, and to give booster shots and veterinarian
exams at least annually.

4: Maine Coon Cats are very sociable animals, and suffer from lack of attention. The buyer agrees to provide
companionship for this cat, never leaving it alone for long periods of time without human attention. The buyer
also agrees to provide generous amounts of exercise for this cat and to provide it with toys.

5: The buyer agrees never to allow this cat outdoors unless leashed and accompanied by a responsible person
to supervise its freedom for its health and safety. Once a cat goes outdoors, it will always desire to go out.
Presently, Nebraskats cats are not allowed outdoors and do not desire to go out.

6: The buyer agrees that this cat will never be sold, leased, or given to any pet shop, animal shelter, research
laboratory or similar facility.

7: The buyer agrees not to declaw this cat without written permission from the breeder.

8: The buyer agrees that if any of the above conditions are disregarded, that the breeder has the right to
reclaim this cat without refund of the purchase price. The buyer further agrees to pay all court costs if this
contract is litigated and that any suit shall be tried in Nebraska at the breeders discretion.

9: Breeder guarantees that the breeders cattery is FELV negative and this cat is in good health and free of all
external parasites and infectious diseases. Prior to delivery, cat will have received immunization for
Panleukopenia, Rhinotracheitis, and Calcivirus, as recorded on an immunization record provided at delivery.
This cat will be accepted for a full refund of purchase price if returned within five days with a licensed
veterinarian’s certificate stating that this kitten has a health problem. In order for this health guarantee to be
valid , the purchaser must have the cat examined by a licensed vet within 5 days of possession. Transportation
of cat is at buyers expense. Since some genetic problems do not surface until the cat is older, and the breeder
has no way of detecting them at an early age, the breeder warrants that this cat is genetically sound, and will
replace it with another cat at no additional cost if this cat dies within one year of purchase date from a genetic
defect and that said defect is evidenced in a necropsy report to the breeder. This health guarantee is null and
void if cats condition is adversely affected by negligence or abuse after delivery.

10: There are no accurate tests for FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Vaccination with the FIP vaccine voids all
health warranties. Studies done have indicated that this vaccine may cause FIP development.

11: Please be aware that during times of stress, such as going to a new home, cats can show temporary signs
of illness, which may include runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, diarrhea or constipation. To reduce stress,
feed the cat the same food as served by the breeder and offer bottled water as well as taking reasonable
measures to reduce stress. Introduce the cat to it’s new environment slowly. Place the cat with it’s carrier into a
quiet room. Leave the carrier open for the cat to have a “safe place” to return to if they feel threatened. This
will allow the cat to gain confidence and acclimate themselves to their new environment. If there are other pets
in the home, introduce them slowly by letting them smell each other through a door at first and then limit
supervised visits to short periods and working up to longer times spent together until the pets are acquainted.
Be sure to provide the cat with plenty of water in the first few days to insure the cat does not become
dehydrated. If food is to be switched to another brand, it is recommended to do so gradually over a 7—10 day
period.

12: The breeder reserves the first right of refusal to reclaim this cat from the buyer, at the breeders discretion,
if original purchaser is unable to keep cat any longer.

13: Buyer agrees to keep the breeder informed as to the cats whereabouts. Breeder requests an occasional
note and photo of the cat. This helps the breeder to analyze the development within the breeding lines.

14: Purchaser agrees that all deposits are non refundable, however deposits may be applied to another
Nebraskats cat within one year.
